There is a custom that children receive Communion first, ill and infirm next, then women, the men. |

St. Joseph's
Church, Marabulig, Cauayan City
Fr. Ed Lovelady transcribed this from notes used by the
Senior Warden of St. Joseph's parish in his welcome on Sunday, August 23, 2009.
Good morning to all of us, specially to our guest Bishop
and Fr. Ed Lovelady. On behalf of our congregation, welcome Fr. Ed Lovelady
from Nevada. It is a great honor to have you here in our worship. We are
thankful and very elated that you visited us here. As you see this is our
little place or worship. We started to worship here in August 5, 2007. Before
we started with four families but now we are composed of different tribes or
ethnic groups. We have Ilocano, Tagalog, Visaya, Pampanga, Pangasiman, Igorot,
and other tribes. From four families we are now 90 plus members and we have
prospect members.
Our regular activities are Bible study, Adults and children
Sunday school, Pastoral visits. As we go along, we realized that we are
becoming bigger so we decided to build up our chapel building for us to worship
with the help of St. Luke's Medical Center. But as we are still not enough for
us to accomplish that building and that's our problem, but we hoping a praying
we can do it with the help of God and each other.
We heard, Fr., that you are from Nevada, Las Vegas. That
place is popular for us because of Paccao who are playing boxing.
Father, thank you again for visiting us. We are very happy
to meet a friend, and brother from other country. We hope that this is the
beginning of our partnership with you and your church. We are praying that you
keep on coming to our humble community in Marabulig. Again, welcome Fr. Ed
Lovelady from Nevada. Welcome to all.
St. Joseph's place of worship is a section of a grain
warehouse, with an old desk serving as an altar; the order of service is written
on a chalkboard, and singing (wonderful singing) without musical instruments.
After the worship service, representatives from each of
the tribes represented in St. Joseph's congregation made a presentation of song
or dance from their tribal culture; the children and youth sang a song, and we
all had lunch at the Senior Warden's home, next to their place of worship.
